A “Blue Flag” is raised on European beaches to indicate cleanliness and a safe environment. We would like to think this is relatable to home inspections and living in a home. Blue Flag Home Inspections is a trade name under Goucher Enterprises LLC that serves Lincoln, NE and surrounding areas. We are a locally owned, fully insured company, NOT a franchise, which provides a more personal working relationship, more accessibility and trust.
Our goal is to provide valuable information to homeowners. Knowledge is power.
Our job is to observe and report. Home inspections are NOT pass/fail or code inspections. Remember that a home inspection is a visual-only inspection for that day. Future issues are unforeseen and are not the responsibility of the Home Inspector. Inspectors can’t see behind walls or personal items. Some systems might not have access or be deemed unsafe to inspect by the Inspector. The Inspector is a generalist, not an expert, and every inspector and report are different. Around 20 systems are inspected in about 3 – 5 hours, so the value is well worth it. Our report software, Spectora, includes photos that provide a detailed and easy to read report covering home systems and how they are functioning.
We adhere to interNACHI’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Recommendations could be made for a qualified and/or licensed tradesman to further evaluate an issue/defect. Houses are built and maintained subject to tradesmen skills, quality of material, system life expectancy, etc. No house is perfect so try to have realistic expectations. A home inspection report will give you the power of knowledge and negotiation tools. However, a seller is not obligated to repair anything and some of the report items might be on the seller’s disclosure statement.
HELLO! Greg Goucher, CPI - Owner/Inspector
I was born and raised in Lincoln, NE with some time living in Bennet, NE and Cedar Creek, NE before returning to Lincoln. I attended Lincoln Northeast High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University where I played baseball. My first home was a 1920 total renovation where I spent a lot of sweat equity. I continued home improvement projects on other homes. I cut my teeth in the construction industry by becoming a Painting & Remodeling Contractor at the age of 25. I’ve gained vast experience in the last 30+ years and want to use my knowledge to help others. I truly love home improvement and the idea of homes being safe, healthy and comfortable. Volunteering at Habitat of Humanity gives me great satisfaction from helping people and provide me a place to continue to use my construction skills.
